standard large English town, nothing special or charming about it.

This is a heritage listed hotel which has been restored to reflect the
charm of yesteryear. The decor and furnishings of the hotel harken back
to the days of the early 20th century, when hotels were plush and
elegant, a home away from home for gentlemen and ladies of substance. A
pity it was stuck in the middle of such an ordinary town.

Tomorrow we'll head down to the south coast to stay at Eastbourne, just along the coast from Brighton.
