David and Julie Browning's Travels
Long day of travel today - leaving Honfleur to go to Calais for the ferry trip to UK. Haven't been able to get an accurate weather forecast for the next couple of days. We are hoping it will stay calm for the ferry crossing.
Calais - and its blowing up a storm. Looks like the ferry trip may be a bit on the rough side.
Got to the passport control booths before we boarded the ferry. For some reason our line is moving really slowly (a bit like the checkouts at a supermarket). We could see the lines either side of us moving through the checkpoints while we were almost stationary. When we finally got to the booth all became clear. The attendant in the British booth was playing 20 questions with every car. "When did you arrive in the EU. Do you have a return ticket. How long are you staying in the UK. When was the last time you were in the UK. Where are you traveling to in the UK." It's like he was in training or something.
