So, well into our trip now and mistakes are coming thick and fast. Yesterday was our ill fated adventure to the Brooklyn bridge. After a morning of shopping round time square, they have a 3 story m&m shop, the rubbish you can buy is impressive, we decided to head on downtown to Brooklyn bridge. Here paul once again proved his skills in navigation. Having taken the subway to the bridge we soon discovered that not only was the stop he had gotten us off at not even close to the bridge on the map, but it wasn't even a bridge. He had taken us to a mark on the map showing where the underground crossed the river, and were in fact about halfway down Manhattan, 3 bridges away from Brooklyn bridge (2-3 miles). Being the exbiditioners we are, and in no way related to our lack of understanding of the subway system or where we were going, we decided to walk the distance. On this venture we acidently hit china town, which was interesting though I didn't find a single food stuff that looked appealing to oneself. Eventually making it to Brooklyn, It was all rather jolly. Walked across Brooklyn bridge into (you'll never guess it) into brooklyn and then back across the Manhattan bridge. Nothing much to see on this one except lots of subway trains crossing it plus a view of Brooklyn. Then back to the hostel for beer on the balcony. Today has shown that I am also not without my flaws. After all Paul's mistakes in navigation I accidently decided today that the safest place to store my locker key was locked safely away in my locker and am now currently waiting for security to come break into it. Now that's secure. Today we explored a bit downtown. Originally planning to do ground zero we strayed at the sight of the que so after a little exploration we decided to do the staton island ferry and pass statue of liberty. Lots of great views and nice buildings with the new world trade centre dominating the skyline. Since we had gone all that way to staton we decided to have a little explore, initially finding nothing of value or worth looking at but then accidently walking into a collages baseball game. It was free and something different so can't complain, though I had little idea of what was going on. Eventually getting back to manhattdn we ended up in a Native american museum, due again to us noticing that it was free. Finally back to the hostel and waiting for someone to saw open my locker. Also, on a side note, why do they need $1 notes. They are cluttering up my wallet an becoming of great annoyance. Also, why does 10c have to be a dime? Why can't it just be what it is. All this confusion is greatly increasing the time I have to spend interacting with shop keepers. Anyhu, will keep you posted on my investigation Into american money. Much lave
