Took a detour on our way to Omapere to have lunch in Rawene, the small, ferry port for crossing the Hokianga Harbour. The old Boatshed Cafe sits, looking somewhat precarious on wooden stilts, above the waters of the harbour. Great food and at a window seat looking across the unspoilt, large natural harbour. Hilary had a bright green fruit drink; later found out that it contained sea weed. As we left the heavens opened up: the first serious rain since we arrived in NZ.
