Used the KL underground and monorail systems today which were both great: modern, clean, safe and easy to use. They were also wonderfully cool, with air conditioning, which was very welcome indeed as this was again a hot and humid day. Walked around the old colonial region of KL. Lots of character in the old buildings and quite a contrast to the many modern skyscrapers that towered over them. By chance arrived at Merdeka (Independence) square when six Malaysian ...

Ate out in the evening at the Tamarind Hill restaurant (which had been recommended by our taxi driver). Burmese and Thai cuisine. Tasty food and helpful service in a lovely setting. Brilliant!

Visited the Petronus Twin Towers. Walked across the "Skybridge" between the two towers, as featured in a fight scene in one of the James Bond films, and then went up to the observation deck on the 86th floor. The views were, of course, breathtaking.

Upon exiting the hotel we were hit by the heat and high humidity. Phew! How come the locals look so chilled and, after just a few minutes, we turned into such a sweaty mess! Explored KL by bus. Visited Chinatown, the Central Market, the Lake Gardens, and the Butterfly Park. Quite a contrast from the hyperactive to the serene.

Awoke to a fabulously sunny day. Amazing variety of foods available for breakfast in the hotel's restaurant which seemed to cater for the tastes of every region of the world.
