Day 40 - No change to the weather, but today was a change in direction as we made our way towards the coast. Day 39 - To warm to move fast to-day, we ventured out about 10.30 to a town called Gimignano, Another town surrounded by walls, so it was park and walk again. The town offered 2 main attractions, a large cathedral and museum. Some of the artefacts here (and there were many) dated back to the 10th century. The cathedral especially had imposing paintings done as far back as the 14th century on the ceilings and walls that told stories of the new & old testame...

Day 38 - A warm start to the day with temperatures predicted to be well into the 30's Carmel & Elaine decided that it would be a good day to wash clothes and have them dry while we drove to Sienna, a town about 40km south. This is a town of 53,00 people and is well known for its Piazza del Campo where twice a year (1 week-end in July & 1 in August ) they hold a bare back horse race around the Piazza. The city has no traffic so we had to park in a gazett...
