Day 39 - To warm to move fast to-day, we ventured out about 10.30 to a town called Gimignano, Another town surrounded by walls, so it was park and walk again. The town offered 2 main attractions, a large cathedral and museum. Some of the artefacts here (and there were many) dated back to the 10th century. The cathedral especially had imposing paintings done as far back as the 14th century on the ceilings and walls that told stories of the new & old testament. It was then on to another fortified town of Monteriggioni. Built in the 1320's this town was unique in that you were allowed to walk around the high walls (at a price) with great views of the countryside and information to read as you walked around. Another quick trip up the motorway and we were back in the villa.
