My Trip
Day three dawned and I have never been so petrified in my life. I had to get back on this boat. Brian and I contemplated just swimming back to Airlie but we decided to grasp our fears and get on the boat. We were heading to Snorkel the reef and this was something I was really looking forward to.
The weather was overcast but ok, so with dread in our bodies, we boarded the boat. I noticed the previous day that sitting outside playing eye spy with Amy was a lot nicer than inside where I immediately need to hurl. So we sat out the front and waited.
The trip was ok, and we dived into the ocean to explore the reef.
This far south isn't picturesque as the reef pictures up in Cairns but I loved it. First into the water jumping off the top rail of the boat and one of the last out. The Coral, and sealife around here is stunning. Something I will never forget! Easily the best snorkeling I have ever done, better than Vietnam. I can't wait to do more in Cairns.
So from here it was a two hour sail to Airlie, Brian and I decided to sack it off and party. And party we did, drawing some other people in as well. Jumping at the front of the boat everytime a wave hit, sliding down the front of the ship, dancing while rocking around and drinking. We had a good group out front that day, including Brian and Niamh, Amy and Jess, Hannah, Sam and Chris and Amy (hightower). That was how the trip will be remembered. The three of us, Brian, Niamh and I didn't want the trip to end we really were having a blast. But alas it had to come to an end.
We were also however going out that night as a group, and it was one of the best nights I have had. With Brian forcing (yeah right) Red Bull and Vodkas down my neck. Everyone partied until the early hours in Airlie and it was a wicked time. Hannah and Sam were awesome fun, dancing and laughing all night, with Shawn, Luke and I busting the moves out as only we could!
We said goodbye to the girls that night and Luke Snr (who we will see again in Cairns).
And Niamh and Brian left the next day to Brisbane- they really were an awesome couple,we just clicked straight away.
