Day 22. Sunday 30th
I spent most of the day, cleaning and washing.... No, that's not a complaint, it must have been a while since I washed cause I'd run out of clean undies. So everyone needed clean clothes, towels and beds and the van needed a bit of a spring clean too.
JD did a couple of trips into town on his bike. One with Grace whom he'd made friends with again.
The little girls helped me a bit with the washing (oh you can imagine) and then they disappeared off to play with their new friend Charlie.
.
In the afternoon we went for a bike ride to Katherine Hot Springs. Not as nice as Mataranka and oh so busy! Lots of Aboriginal families who didn't seem all that pleased to be sharing the Springs with a heap of loud tourists.
.
I didn't get in as we'd read on WikiCamps that the local kids walk around feeling people's belongings with their feet and then take off with it when they feel something! So I took some photos and walked the length of the Springs while the others swam.
.
There was another family using the Springs at the same rate as us and were using many, many expletives so as I was hot and bothered by this time I pulled the pin much to Graces disgust!
.
Grace wanted to swim in the river which I also (apparently selfish and unreasonable) didn't recommend as there was a croc warning sign!
.
We headed back to the pool and Grace pulled me in, which put a smile back on the her dial! I got jumped on, dunked, splashed, half drowned and beaten in swimming races (mostly cause my bather top came off when I dived in!) GHD "excuses excuses mum! I won 2 times" kids loved it, I rarely (never) get in, so big novelty, they took full advantage!
.
Spent the rest of day light by the pool and then went back to the Fig Tree Cafe for another much more successful and yummy dinner. Much better day today!

Marguerite It all sounds so adventurous and cheerful. And yes it is always satisfying to do the washing in unusual places...
