Day 23. Monday 31 July

Got moved along from our campsite at 10.15!

Stocked up on supplies in town.

Off to Katherine Gorge for the night
Past the town cemetery "Dead centre of Katherine! There's more room in there than the caravan park!"

Great spot right by the excellent pool had a quick swim, it was really hot!

2 pm and we set off on a walk along the river. Intrigued by all the bats, hanging upside down, thick in the trees, flapping to cool them selves down. Olivia loved them, she thought they were cute, especially the babies! Grace and I not so much! They smell! We saw a dead one!
Not allowed to swim in the river due to crocodiles. Walked up to the lookout. Really beautiful and quiet different to everything else we've seen. Olivia "accidentally" bashed the top of her head into the railing chasing a skink, a few tears! More tears from the others about being too hot to climb the stairs and then James suggested we do the loop back. We thought he said 1.8kms when actually the sign said 2.8 and really it was 3.86kms and the girls hated it!!! Must admit it was VERY hot and their heads were actually bright red! But it really didn't warrant the carry on! JD took off!
I brought the whiners home. Straight to the pool.

JD- I decided it best that I left the 4 girls to their whining and finish the walk by myself......It wasn't quite long enough until they returned so I went and did a a hour or so on my bike. I'll need to do a bit more of this if I'm to prevent myself "running to seed" completely.
I love the heat but it is not conducive to exercising but lends its self well to drinking beer.......as most will know I'm partial to a beer in most weather, hot or cold ;-)

Grace and mum finally sat down to do our budget. Oh dear!

"We were up and down from -$100 to -$650 we were not doing to well - too many nights going out to dinner and the super market shopping was not helping. I guess we will HAVE to … free camp and ... no more out to dinners :( . If we want to stay in A hotel in Darwin!".
