Day 14 Saturday 22nd
.
Slow to set off. Tempted to stay another night here! Everyone a wee bit grumpy and tired today not getting on so well! Could be a long trip to Alice!
Not even to the Lasseter highway already 3 stops....one for Spue!
Called into Erlunda roadhouse for fuel, coffee, ice cream and to see the emu farm.
Road is as straight as the eye can see. Flat, Flat, Flat! And oh so very dry!
We have traveled 3500kms so far, an average of 250kms per day. 10kms ever 6 minutes on average!
James happy to see the road trains back. I'm pleased I'm not a NT cow!
"Are we here yet!" "Yes right here!"
Apparently "Pine Gap" is away in the distance where some massive high security centre monitors all radio communication or alien activities according to Tim Agnew.
Finally arrived in Alice Springs 469kms.
We checked into the Big 4 which was a fantastic set up for the kids with pools complete with waterslide, massive jumping pillows, trampoline and playground. The kids ran into the Gibson and Hirst family (who we had caught up with on the Spirit of Tassie on the way out)
James went for a beer with them and I cooked up some pasta for dinner. JD and I watched a Jack Reacher DVD and neither of us slept! Tent for James tomorrow!
