Yesterday we drove from Orbost to Woodside Beach past Lakes Entrance and all the fanstastic places to visit. Daz wanted to find somewhere on the beach so he could go fishing and from Sale we called around and found a caravan park at Woodside Beach that had availability.
Woodside Beach Caravan Park and the Surf Life Saving Club house were the only commercial buildings and the nearest convenience was miles away.....The wind was blowing a gale from the south-west and the temperature was cold cold cold!!!
It was a dive. Showers didn't work (either no water through the shower head or it scalded or froze you), everyone was so rude to us (was is because we had QLD plates on our car?) and there was no phone or internet reception! Daz did brave the cold to try some beach fishing at 10pm but a fish ran off with all of his line that was on his reel!!!!!
This morning we headed towards the Mornington Peninsula. But there was no where available to stay. I had wanted to travel on the Sorrento-Queenscliff ferry but we also heard that it was very rough and likely to make you seasick. So into the GPS I typed Geelong and with the Freeways we made it across Melbourne in an hour. We spoilt ourselves tonight and splashed out with a fancy 'ensuited' site, showered, shaved and sat back and enjoyed the evening.
Our plans may change slightly depending on availability of sites along the Great Ocean Road. It is very busy and mostly booked out so tomorrow I'll make some phone calls and see what I can find.
So far we are enjoying our adventure - even with the hiccups along the way. We have about 10-12day left until we rendevous with Jason in Adelaide.
Stay tuned.......

norm dinger Hi Danni & co. Beach fishing in s/gipps has a lot of gummy sharks which can spool you in one sec. Sounds like you are learning the art of caravanning ok. Cheers Norm & Marion.
