Happy New Year to all!!!!!!

Currently we are stuck in Orbost.

Left Narooma on the 30th Dec and just over the NSW/VIC boarder we were driving along and heard a strange noise from the caravan......nothing felt different and the bikes were still on the back so we continued on......

Our destination was Marlo and we decided to fuel up and grab some food at Orbost before leaving the HWY. At the servo we noticed that the van was on a lean.........that noise we heard earlier?????? we had broken a leaf spring....

Perth or bust....public holidays coming up and in a tiny country town........what were we to do????? We checked into the local caravan park and contemplated out options. Luckily the nexy day we sourced a spring in Bairnsdale (1hr out of Orbost) and my hero Daz sweated and grunted under the van for about 2 hours in the 40+ heat and fitted the new spring.

NYE was hot hot hot! Because the van was up on the jack for most of the day our fridge went hot and we lost all our food and had nothing cold to drink! At about 7pm we walked up to the local pub (not to party for NYE) just so we could have a few cold ones and quickly left before we got too involved with the locals. We sat up to about 1am with another couple in the campground to see in the new year and hoped that the temperature would drop soon.

On New Years Day the temp was much more tolerable and we drove to Buchan Caves. We passed on paying $15pp for a 15min tour of the caves and slowly drove back to Orbost. The stress of the previous days must have caught up with us because we ended up sleeping the rest of the day only to be woken up by 15 kids playing directly outside of our caravan at 3pm!
