Today we left Geelong after finding another leaf spring for the van and headed down the Great Ocean Road.
It is an amazing piece of road that hugs the coastline and winds its way along amazing beaches and towns. We had no chance of staying anywhere popular as pretty much everything was fully booked and really $$$(even van sites were $45-$50pn!!!). Luckily an old guy at the van park in Geelong told us about this place in Princetown that lets you camp on the sports oval for $20pn. It even had hot showers and power!!! So that was our destination.
Princetown is just on the last headland before the amazing 12 Apostles so after we set up camp we decided to see these sights before the day ended. The 12 Apostles are spectacular but the other side roads to other not so popular sights were in our opinion more beautiful and less crowded.
There was a lake just on the other side of the road from the campground and we 4WD up the track and walked around to where the lake met the sea. It was stunning and isolated (except for a few keen fishermen) and Daz later went back with his rods but didn't catch anything.
It was another VERY VERY VERY cold night with the wind blowing a gale but at least we have avoided any rain so far,....
