Hello all,
So, being that I have decided to leave Sydney next tuesday, I thought I'd better get on the case of doing the "tourist" stuff today, and well, I did. I had my camera fully charged and ready to go. First I went to the Harbour Bridge, got to admit, its quite impressive, for the engineers that are reading this, you'd love it, how they put a thing like that together, in those days is just amazing. I was toying with the idea of doing the bridge walk that actually takes you on top of the arch and lasts for about 3 hours, but the $250 price tag didnt really seem worth it and besides, I managed to get up above it and take some shots elsewhere, as you'll see. After the bridge I had a 3:30pm tour of the opera house to go to. The Opera house is cool, although it does look a tad 70's still, the brown tinted glazing it has and the off white tiles just gives it that older feel, but none the less it was an impressive building and the tour was quite good too. I managed to get inside, backstage and into most of the halls apart from one as they were doing some stuff for the upcoming opera show. The tour was about an hour long and the lady taking us round knew so much about the place, did you know, it took 16 years to build at a cost of 102 million? and before the build they only estimated it taking 4 years at a cost of 7 million? ha ha, bit of an under estimate there me thinks, oh, and did you also know that the building is actually 2 buildings? the outer sail like roof is one, then under that is are the music halls, theatres etc.....ok I will stop with the "Did you knows" im sure you dont wanna know, haha. After the tour I then headed downtown, shooting randomly with my camera at anything that took my eye. Eventually I came to the Sydney Tower. All I wanted to do here was literally go to the top, take some shots and go down, but noooooooo I couldnt, I had to buy a ticket to go up PLUS another to go watch some budget show called the "Oz trek"......ZZzzzzz....it had its moments! The views from the top though were so cool, you had a 360 unrestricted view of the city, you could see everything!! So yeah, that was me and my tourist day out. On friday im on a day tour to the blue mountains, they call this place Australias Grand Canyon, so im really looking forward to it, will let you all know how it goes.
See ya
Daniel
