Dan's Day We slept quite late, both wanted a lie in and also you spend no money that way!! Went to tailors and picked everything up. Dan's suit is gorgeous. Wish I'd got mine there. We wandered around then went to a riverside cafe and ended up sitting there reading and chatting for 5 hours drinking draught beer. We had 19 between us (they're between half and three quarters of a pint) and the bill came to 57,000 vnd - just over 2 quid.... Its a good job its not that cheap in England - no one would get any work done! We then walked up towards our hotel and stopped at a shop selling scarves. We had $3 left from the clothes we bought so I was going to spend this on a scarf (not in daily budget). In the end I got one for $3 plus 10,000vnd (include in budget), from a very strange woman who kept touching my boobs and bum and saying "very good, very beautiful, how pale.." The to the dreaded stall. At one point Dan had suggetsed getting food in the cafe but this would have been breaking the rules and would have invalidated Dan's day..... so, to the stall. These places generally consist of a big trolley, about 6ft high, the top half galss so you can see fruit. meat, bread, cheese and drinks. The bottom half is not visible and god knows what's in there. They cook the noodles and meat in pans on the street. Behind the stall was basically an alleyway with a corrugated tin roof and plastic stools and tables that look like they're for children. So you can imagine how stupid westerners look sat at them! We got the same dish, it was noodles with veg and pork with a peanut sauce. It tasted ok, dan loved it, but I hated where we were sat so much. It was dirty. Loads of fat on the meat too which I can't eat (unless its fried of course!). It came to 29,000vnd including drinks, which for me was a false economy as I didn't eat that much. I probably sound like such an idiot but am just being honest... I could count on one hand the people who would have sat down and eaten there - naming no names of course. Back to the hotel in triumph as our total day's spend was 111,000vnd. Just under 4 pound!!
