We then traveled down to Chengdu to see the massive stone Buddha carved out of a cliff and of course we saw the Giant Pandas! They were ace and I now want one as a pet! So cute, but they really shouldn't still be here! They are supposed to be meat eaters, but they can't be assed to catch anything! They are supposed to be goers in the bedroom but they can't be assed and the females freak out and try to kill the babies when they have their first as they don't know what the hell it is!! Oh and the babies don't know how to go to the toilet so the parents have to persuade them to go by taping their tummies! So shouldn't survive as a race but they are cool! We then caught another bloody sleeper train down to Chongqing. They were fun to start with but after the 6th/7th they were a little tedious! Some took 17hours. The top bunks were like those I imagine to be on a submarine! Tight on space was not the word! Chongqing was not a very nice place. Very built up and smoggy (as was the whole of the North actually) and smelly! We stayed here to get on the Yangzi River cruise. This was so much fun! We had to dress up and have dinner with the captain and had entertainment and we saw the three gorges before the Dam works fully. It is crazy how much of the beautiful scenery they have already lost but how much they are going to loose, well by now what we saw is all under water. People have been 'relocated' and pushed off of the land. Unsure of what it is trying or going to achieve but if you want to protest you have to file a form first and then if you are allowed you have a designated area or time to do it and then you may disappear so people just obey! Not a great way to do it but it is the Chinese way! On our cruise we also had mega drunk Chinese drinking loads of very expensive rice wine. Very amusing as it doesn't take much but they were knocking it back! We then went to Yangshou which was beautiful, chilled and fun. We wanted to stay longer but being on an organised tour it is a bit tricky! This was where our guide, Dong Chi was from and it was great! We did a bike ride and met his family and his adorable little daughter! We had lunch there too and climbed Moon Hill which was huge. It was a very hot day too so by the time we got up there we could wring our clothes out!! NICE!! We also met Dong Chi's second sister and she was called 1000 Yuan as this is the fine that his parents had to pay for having her after having two others. People back then didn't really understand the 1 baby rule apparently, but now according to our guide the Chinese understand that it is for the good of the country! We then left China and arrived in Hong Kong, very English looking. Hong Kong was quite a stark difference from China. China will have full power over Hong Kong by 2047 so it will be interesting to see how it changes cause at the moment it is quite liberal (well compared to China anyway!) However Chinese people can not move freely between the mainland and Hong Kong still as the government knows that life is better in Hong Kong and does not want people to move there from China so it is all very strict. We stayed in Hong Kong for a couple of days after the tour ended which was good! We went to Hong Kong Island which had amazing views of the mainland! It was a beautiful day too so good photos! So that was China in a nutshell! Wow!
