We spent a couple of weeks in Malaysia. We first went to Penang Island and the hostel we stayed in had probably the most helpful guy we've met so far!! Did kind of look like the spitting image of Mr Miagi from karate kid, but he told us everywhere to go and the cheapest places to eat. From Penang we traveled to the Cameron Highlands in the central part of the Malaysian Peninsula. There we did a day trek to see the areas highest points, the tea plantations and the 2 million year old mossy forest. Being English we had some tea and bought a shed load too (rude not to). Then we traveled to Kuala Lumpur which we both really enjoyed. The city was really easy to get around. Highlights were the KL Tower which was almost a quarter of a mile high apparently, views were amazing. Also the Petronas Twin Towers (3rd tallest building in the world) and most impressive of all M&S!!!! Had to buy some mince pies, and chocolate coins for Christmas. From KL we traveled down to Singapore. Only problem with Malaysia was that we did get ripped off on practically every trip we took, which did leave a bit of a sour taste in our mouths. The best time was when we arrived to catch a bus at 1:16 and the lady told us that the 1:15 had just left but we could get the 'special bus' at 1:30. It of course was more expensive than even the VIP bus and no air-con (fun times!!). At 2:15pm the bus driver came and got us and all the people around us who has been there for ages got up as well... turns out this was the 1:15 bus that is always late apparently!! GREAT!
