So it was back to Bangkok, for our final few days before we head home.
We had another mamouth journey ahead of us a total of 12 hours travelling boat and bus combo so were glad when it was over, We had booked ourselves in to the same guesthouse that we stayed in when we first started our adventure so we were looking forward to going back there and seeing how it may have changed and the lovely thai girls who run the house.
Songkran, the Thai new year festival had been going on for a day or so already and we weren't to sure what to expect but when we did arrive at half 8 at night it was manic. People everywhere walking around with water guns, people with hose pipes and open top vans with people on the back with guns and buckets full of water. Us two were sitting ducks in our tuk tuk heading to our guesthouse, we were getting shot from all directions but all in good spirits.
Or final day in Bangkok was a pretty chilled one, when we did venture out back down to khosan road we were just gobsmacked and amazed with what we saw. The Songran festival goes on for 4 days in total and it is just one massive water fight. They have a street closed off for people and you just walk up and down and squirt people with water, the street was lined with stalls selling water guns, refills of water and food. They also along with the water have a clay type substance which people go around putting it on peoples faces, its a sign of good luck apperently but looking at some of the people walking around covered in this clay stuff they are in for some really good luck.
If you go out with the intention of trying to not get wet or clayed then you have no chance. Me and sophie were a bit cautious but after a few beers we baught our guns and joined in in the festivities. Where could you ever squirt people with water in the street ? we had so much fun and it was a great laugh to end our time in Bangkok.
After getting ourselves cleaned and showered we headed back out down the back alleys away from all the water to a little side stall and had our final meal.
We sat by the river and ate our meal and sipped our cheeky changes and reminisced about the most amazing time we have had, we couldnt have asked for anything else it has been the time of our lives and something we will never forget.
So a big thankyou to all who has followed us and until the next time.
