Today after class Neela and I went to the Cotswolds to take a bike ride around the villages. It's only a 40 minute train ride north of Oxford. Two other groups had previously done this so we knew it was going to be fun. In the Cotswolds, a town's main street (High Street) had to be wide to accommodate for sheep and cattle marching to the market. Fields of yellow hay fill the region. My London experience began Thurs. night when Lindsey and I went to London to see a Shakespeare play at the Globe theater. We saw "Comedy of Errors" which was about 2 sets of twins and they comical parts were in confusing the twins for each other and all the mess that they caused. Today after class Shayna, Neela, Sarah, Matt, and I went took a bus to Blenheim Palace, which was 25 min north of Oxford. It was finished in 1722 and is set in 2100 acres of beautiful gardens and riverside. It's famed as the birthplace of Winston Churchill. The inside was very decorative, the most impressive things were the huge tapestries that were commissioned by John Churchill the 1st Duke of Marlborough. Today right after class I went to Winchester (south of Oxford about 1:15 hr). I heard about it from some people that went here over the weekend. The only things worth seeing here were the cathedral and Great Hall. The cathedral dates back to th 7th century of Kind Alfred's kingdom when Winchester was the capital of England.
