Dan picked us up in the Hummer at 6.30am for our trip to the West Rim of the Grand Canyon, and what a hoot he turned out to be. If anyone wants a great day trip to the Canyon call Big Horn Hummer Tours and ask for Dan Hall. He kept us entertained all day with information about all facets of the Canyon and the Indians who own it, gave us a great insight into the entire region and had us in stitches with his jokes and carrying on. What a Day! There were only six of us on the tour and we took miles of dirt roads into the Canyon where we went out onto the amazing Skywalk to gawk at the views. It was a memorable experience and one we will talk about for years to come.
We had lunch and explored a little more, but the whole place is very tightly controlled by the Indians and you can pretty do only what they let you.
Dan stopped at Hoover Dam on the way back for some photos and a look at the new suspension bridge being built over the Colorado River, and then we stopped to look at some Big Horn sheep at Boulder City.
Arriving back at our hotel late in the afternoon meant we only had a short while before our concert, so we got "frocked" up (despite the heat) and caught the bus to Caesars Palace.
Elton John was sensational in concert, playing all the old favourites and wowing us with all the visual stuff and stage sets. It was a truly great night and a fantastic way to cap off a wonderful day, but we were pretty knackered and fell into bed for a well earned sleep.
