Thursday 9th June was a day of travelling. We left Hoi An and were dropped off at DaNang airport, where we flew out to Ho Chi Minh. From Ho Chi Minh we flew into Buon Ma Thout and caught a cab out to the Coffee Tour Resort, we arrived at 9.30pm, so it was an early night as we were b*****ed. The weather was just so much cooler than we had experienced, as we are now inland and in the mountains. The taxi driver had all the windows down and the breeze was just beautiful and cool.
The next morning we spent a couple of hours walking around the town. Buon Ma Thout is not a touristy town, as there was no english translation and the people had trouble understanding us. Buon Ma Thout is known for the coffee grown in the area. Next door to our accommodation was the Trung Nguyen Coffee Tour Gardens, which was a beautiful garden setting with waterfalls, coffee museum, shop and coffee lounge. We stopped there for a snack and found one young boy who was fascinated with us and even videoed us talking to him, his older sister was telling him what to say to us. "Hello, how are you?" What is your name?, he was so cute.
We spent the evening with Minh and Tai, who travelled an hour from their home town to visit us and take us out to dinner. They took us to a lovely Korean restaurant where the meal was cooked at the table. After dinner, Minh and Tai took us to see the sights of town and we stopped in the centre of town and took photos of us all in front of Victory Monument. They then took us to the night market and bought us gifts and introduced us to Durian, my god this fruit stinks. Back at the car they had other local fruits for us to try. The meal and the great company certainly made for a great evening. Thank you Minh and Tai, for taking time out of your busiest time with work. It was so great catching up with you both.
We left early the next morning to catch a flight back to Ho Chi Minh city, were we walked around for the afternoon and saw some sights. Breakfast the following morning was at the hotels roof top restaurant, overlooking the streets below. Saturday was then a day of flights from Ho Chi Minh to Singapore, then Singapore 11pm overnight flight back home to Darwin.
A great holiday was had in both Singapore and Vietnam. The tours to Sapa and Halong Bay were the highlight of the holiday. Hoi An was great for some rest and relaxation and one of the main reason of going to Vietnam was to catch up with both Minh and Tai, and it was so good to see them both again.
