I can't decide if it was the longest day of my or the day that never happened. It's all a matter of perspective really. It was almost exactly 31 hours from the time that we left the house to our arrival in Queenstown. The flight was shockingly not as terrible as we'd expected, keeping in mind we did travel fully around the globe; we were tired.
I had heard that flying into Queenstown was an adventure, but I hadn't really understood why until we were landing. I had somehow imagined the intensity of being surround by mountains while landing on a short runway that ended with a lake- breath-taking in all respects. But in reality, it was terrifying intense wind that continued right until we landed that had me most unhappy. We're here, so all's well that ends well.
We only spent one day in Q-Town. While beautiful, we were not planning to hurtle ourselves off a mountain, out of an airplane, or over a bridge, so there wasn't much purpose to sticking around. We managaed to stay out until 6:30. As I started falling asleep in my dinner, we decided it was time to call it a night.
Next morning was a quick bite and on our way!!!
