Neil's journey
Arrived in a place called Can Tho after a morning on a tour of the mekong delta with a load of belgians. It was actually better than you'd imagine (sorry Belgium) although the guide was hilarious, one of those people always in a hurry - 'you get off bus,' 'quick get back on bus' - I don't think many tourists make it down here (opting to go straight to Saigon...S..S..S..S..S... Saigon)
Bit of a shame as its really nice on the water, cooler too - now I'm in the town its got really humid and looks like it is about to bucket it down, typical.
Strange things I've seen/heard in last couple of days - in no particular order
1 - Fried frog and Lemongrass on a menu
2 - The excessive use of the car horn (or Egyptian brake pedal as I've heard it called) You think its bad in Thailand and Cambodia - wait til you get to Vietnam...
3 - Nine people all taking flemish - thats like half the population of flemish speaking people
4 - a cat having a crap right in front of me whilst eating lunch - not so strange in itself but it was the manner in which kitty did it and the look he/she gave me
5 - the way dogs roam around like they own the place - they also seem to have the right of way on main roads
6 - the speed at which coach drivers in Vietnam travel - it must be the tarmac roads - it just encourages them to go faster
7 - the way you take your life in your hands crossing a road - waited about half hour today - the locals on the other side were pissing themselves
8 - the way the locals piss themselves evey time they see me
A floating market tomorrow - brilliant, can't wait...
