Today was spent exploring the Connamara region, lots of green rolling hills, many smaller lakes and bog areas where apparently peat comes from (what a lot of people burn for heat). First on the stop was Kylemore Abbey, which was gorgeous, a little castle in miniature. Located right next to it where the Victorian Walled Gardens. Then on to Killary Fjord, which sadly was only a pull over stop for a picture.
Then Cong - The Quiet Man was filmed there for people who actually watched any John Wayne movies - and a 5 star hotel that costs 650 Euros a night with a star level guest list (including Jennifer Aniston). Just a quaint small town other than that small claim to fame. Gotta say, I'm thinking car might be the way to go if I'm brave enough as I head south.
Got back to Galway and headed out to Aniar, the only michillen starred restaurant in the area, and was not disappointed. Gorgeous 8 course meal with all sorts of delicious things...plus some really good wine!
