In another country today! Because Gibraltar is self governed, even though they identify as part of the British Empire. "The Rock" as they call it, doesn't really come across well in photos, it just seems so much more massive in person. We took a tour on this one, and our British guide drove us all the way up the rock, stopping to see the 'wild' monkeys, a natural cave full of stalactites and stalagmites that is now used for concerts and the like (talk about great acoustics), and the miles of tunnels that were carved out for cannons when defending Gibraltar in the past. From the very top it was a clear view across the water to Africa.
On a side note, the Gibraltar strait is where the world was believed to have ended, way back when we thought the world was flat.
After our tour was over, we changed up the food, and headed for some fresh fish and chips, a place our guide Roy recommended. Then it was back to Tarifa by bus, where it was even windier if possible! Tomorrow we'll be headed on to Jerez de la Frontera.
