Incredible... The Great Ocean Road is so much more than GREAT... The most beautiful road we've ever travelled. The scenery is ever changing and captivating. We camped on a big oval $20 a night, filled with kangaroos! This wasn't our planned stopped. We had planned on staying at Wye river but decided against that due to bush fires still burning and the helicopter still water bombing!! We were initially so shocked that the big 4 here wanted $128 a night/ $123 for a unpowered site! The council site was right on the beach and $50 a night... So we were delighted with our bargin prince town camp.
Being only minutes away from Port Campbell, 12 Apostles, London Arch, razor rock and all the other amazing rock formations jutting out into the ocean. Great photography here as you can imagine and beautiful sunsets.
So many places to stop along the way, we couldn't resist cheese world! Stocked up there. Our next camp spot was Portland a old heritage town the first town of Victoria, so majority of the building here were built in the 1800s and still standing beautifully. A P&O cruise ship pulled in here and where there's a cruise ship the town always host a local market. We found a few treasures at the market, Both the girls bought things for there collections.
We purposely stayed here as it was central to the light house, blowholes, the petrified Forrest and seal colony. Both Kev and I enjoyed afternoon siestas on the beach while the girls busied themselves burying each other neck deep in sand!
Back at the park we had enough room to play cricket as the park was nice and quite and the sun stay up til 9,45pm so plenty of time to fit so much into the days. Best of all we loved the resident Koalas in the trees, my goodness they are really cute.
