What a week! It was so great catching up with Pete, Karen and Becs. With their help we managed to see so much of this truly beautiful area.
Our first big day was spent on Phillip Island, we just had to check out the Motor G.P track. Such a stunning setting for the Grand Prix. You can feel the excitement in the air. We then spent the afternoon in Cowes wondering in and out of shops. Then fish and chips on the beach before heading to Penguin parade. After a freezing 2 hour wait on the beach, these gorgeous little penguins started making their way home. Watching them leave the ocean in groups called rafts is the cutest thing. They stay together no matter what, so if one decides it's too risky and heads back to the safety of the waves, they all head back no hesitation. So it took a few attempts to cross the beach. They waddle back to their borrows and chicks. It truly was a magical experience.
Next must dos was of course The Melbourne Cricket Ground! The guided tour was very informative. We were taken all around the grounds and stands, even made it to the prestigious long room. The whole history and story of the MCG quite incredible.
Melbourne is such a fab city. We hopped on and off the free trams did a spot of shopping drank amazing coffee a must here, then enjoyed delicious dumpling for dinner.
Pete and Karen took us out to the Enchanted garden, where the girls tree surfed and zip lined. The gardens and mazes are fabulous. A fantastic family day out fun for young and old. With a different very cool and trippy 3D graffiti maze.
We then went to a place called Sorrento for lunch. Gorgeous shops here. Very busy happening place. To walk off lunch we went to Portsea which was extremely busy with a polo match on. We walked to Point Nepean and as Becs put it " it's history but it's fun history" it's the defences for port Phillip bay. The first shots from both world war 1& 2 were fired here. It's also the place Australia's prime minister Harold Halt went missing. After a walk around the old war tunnels and the amazing scenery up there we headed back and came across a echidna strolling along our path. So cute. After a well deserved wine we were all ready for a good nights sleep.
Sunday the weather in Melbourne was hot and sunny so we joined everyone in Melbourne! At the beach. We went to Mount Martha gorgeous safe beach for the girls and little star fish in the water. I really loved all the colourful boat sheds along the beaches here.
We really loved every minute here such a gorgeous place with tonnes to do.
