A little slice of heaven is the eat way to describe Dalgety Snowy river caravan park. Which is on the corner of Hamilton and Campbell street! As soon as we pulled in we were all so delighted the large lush green grass sights are well kept with individual herb gardens for you to use as you like. The instant we were set up we took the boogie boards straight to the snowy river for a swim we spent the whole afternoon on the banks of the river under the shade of tall bushy trees, reading and swimming, heaven. Later that evening we walked back to the river and sat quietly as we watched platypus swimming up and down. The sun was setting which created colourful blanket a cross the sky. Absolutely magic.
New Year's Eve we took a short drive out through golden fields to Dalgety Microbrewery for some wine/ beer tasting and a delicious ploughman's lunch. Kev loved the cider and ginger-beer combo. Again we spent the afternoon on the banks of the snowy river, this time Candeece and I went for a kayak upstream so pretty. The owners of the park Sue and Colin had organised a bit entertainment for everyone to celebrate the new year in, not the most talented guitarist in the world but a good laugh and great way to see the new year in!
What's the best hangover cure? Well a hike up Australia's tallest mountain of course! So that's exactly what the crazy Campbell's did! Mt Kosciuszko wow so beautiful. The chair lift ride up was brilliant great selfies! Once up top we were welcomed by millions of flys and stunning landscape, beautiful dainty little flowers and flowing brooks. Fantastic hike and as you can imagine amazing veiw!
We treated ourselves to a well deserved Ice-cream in Thredbo. I felt like I was in Europe. Loved all the sky chalet style restaurant. The whole village is worth a look it's lovely.
Next day was over cast and a little rainy, very cosy so after we baked scones and enjoyed them we ample jam and cream we played board games (which are available from the parks office) Candeece and I paired up against Kev and Mikayla we laughed so much playing pictionary ! Then my gorgeous girls picked me a bag of the most delicious apricots, Just need to find a new recipe for them.
I would highly recommend this beautiful park to anyone. The girls loved it they played and played, always something for them to do and as I've said before they seem to enjoy these quieter/smaller parks better than the if resort style parks. I know I do too! A great base to check out the snowy mountains and lake Jindabyne which is also breathtaking. Hitting the road this morning with no idea where we will be stopping g tonight and not sure eve what day it is! I love my life right now hehe xxx
