RAGUSA, Sicily. 16th August 2011
In the morning I joined my cousin Giovanna and Paola fo breakfast. A Briosche and Granita. Yet another flavour to try, Pistacchio macchiato with Chocolate...buonissimo.
We then enjoyed the first half of this day by the pool and sea at Santa Tecla Palace Hotel. It is usually €20 to enter but because Giovanna has a V.I.P pass we are able to enter free.
We return to join Elio, Rosario, Vera and Camillo for lunc before a trip to Ragusa Ibla. A beautiful Medievil City with its Baroque buildings built n a rocky crest is well worth the visit. We visit the beautiful Duomo built in 1738 - 75. The original was destroyed in the 1693 Earthquake. The gardens were well worth the visit wih its panoramic vies, not to forget the small streets.
We eat a Sicilian Gelato, hmmmm with all this sugar intake, there must be a stage when I will get over it.
For dinner we drive to Modica and dine in a lovely small restauarant. Rosario as usual over orders, his eyes are bigger than his stomach. I get the feeling that they "Live to Eat", rather than Eat to Live".
On our journey home we stop at a cafe bar for a coffee before calling it in for the night.
I am b*****ed.
