CATANIA, 12th August 2011
Saro, Pina and I took a day trip into Catania for the usual Granita and Briosch breakfast. I Choose a chocolate granita as well as a ricotta cannoli and a pasta mandola. My cousins have a bad habit in getting to the register before I do and when I do get to the register they will not allow me to pay as the know I am a guest and they tell me "Guests Don't Pay"!
We then hit the markets where one has to be able to tell the difference between copies and fakes. I managed to find Rafaella Cara's CD for €1.
Pina and Saro take me to the Antiteatro Romano ruins which was destroyed and buried by lava. Only a quarter of the theatre has been dug out the remaing part still sits buried under Catania. To escavate the Roman City would be impossible, but here Catania's City above it.
Returning home we joined Zia Graziella for lunch, before visiting Zia Agata who now resides in the nursing home of Zia Carmen.
For Dinner Zia Graziella, Pina, Saro and I dine out at the Ficodindia retauarant. Unfortunately my Steak choice was not the best choice!
I am having a great time soaking in the Sicilian culture and I must say my Sicilian Laguage is improving.
Buona Notte!
