The bus picked us up nice and early outside our strange YHA....full of old ladies... I was suprised to see that the bus was basically empty...oh s***e I thought...this is gonna be a long ol' trip to Westport. Anyways, we had a few more pick ups and there was a rowdy group of english boys and some nice girls. The weather was crap...rainy and cloudy and to be honest it reminded me of England! Not impressed! As with most bus journeys at the start no one really talks to eachother so at the first stop it was great to finally chat to everyone. Turns out everyone is as mad as me and we began the banter. It was a long day driving and on our next stop we picked up loads of people as their bus had broken down!!!! We got to Westport late afternoon and some of us when to the Brewery for free beer tasting which was hilarious, as it was all the girls that had legged it for the free beer! After that we wandered around the town which to be hoenst wasn't exactly amazing...inbred little town with people who had 7 fingers and 2 noses...not really but my imagination went wild there.
In the evening the boys started on the drinking games and everyone joined in. One of the boys, Danny told me he was scared of me which I found hilarious! We all went to a pub which was also pretty random and to be honest I was worried that maybe the whole of NZ was going to be like this. In the pub though we all got to know eachother and I knew it was going be an awesome few weeks...
In the morning I was booked in to do jet boating, which in theory sounds like it'd be rather exciting...crap your pants kind of excitement... We got to the place and we were given the most hilarious looking gear to put on...big fat fisherman waterproof trousers, dodgey raincoat, the sexiest beanie hat I have ever seen and also bright yellow ali G like glasses. I felt the sexiest girl in the world and us girls decided to take a few posey shots! Anyways, we went out of this speed boat and it wasn't that fast or that exciting...Antonette and I were just messing about the whole time...I could have even eaten my breakfast as we were going along...i didnt know whether I didnt find it good due to all the jet-skiing I used to do but I dont recommend it. We got to see some nice waterfalls etc but I wouldnt say it was thrilling! Anyways off to lake Mahinapua....
