Taupo is the adventure capital of the North Island but nothing in comparison with South Islands Queenstown. We arrived in Taupo and the rain was ridiculous, ah well. We were staying at a nice backpackers called Urban Retreat. It was really small and really personal. The owners were so lovely and you really felt looked after and that they actually cared about you... that doesnt really happen too often. Our room was possibly the smallest room I have ever seen. It still had two bunk beds in it but it was tiny! As it was peeing with rain we relaxed in the communal area and chatted with randoms. One of the plus points of Taupo is that it is home to natural hot springs. We decided to go there and it was amazing, hadnt had a bath since I left England...dont worry I have had showers! The water was boiling hot and it was soooo good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We sploshed around there for a few hours and when we got out we all felt a bit out of this world. So us 4 Zombies went back to the hostel and watched some films. We had been really boring lately but it was just what the doctor ordered!

On my last day in Taupo I went for a massage as my neck and back had been giving me gip for ages, it was not the most comfortable massage due to it being deep tissue but I still felt like a complete flashbacker! Ah well, gotta treat yourself sometimes...
