Our Fantabulous Trip Around the Globe
Tonight is our last night in Canada. We leave at 5:15 pm Eastern (although we are flying Air Canada so it will be more likely 5:45). We survived our packing and moving pretty unscathed; we've certainly have had worse experiences moving. Although, we forgot a load of laundry and a spare bicycle tire at the apartment. Not just any load of laundry, the only clothes left unpacked that we have for our trip. Fortunately, we were able to retrieve them the next day.
A little lesson in sosotho (the language in Lesotho). Kea leboha means thank you. We must thank our wonderful friends, family members and acquaintances who have come through for us in so many ways. From the girls who cleaned which was probably the nastiest apartment in Ottawa, to those who donated money and supplies to Help Lesotho, and to those who borrowed our belongings and let us sleep in their homes these last few days. We are concerned though that when we return everybody will cash in their favours. Body parts have been claimed from kidneys to surrogate wombs and marrow. Truly though, by helping us, you are helping those are going to help. We wouldn't be able to do this if you all weren't there to help us get there.
We don't arrive in Maseru, the capital, until the evening of April 3rd. In total, we will be travelling for about 41 hours in total, but 20 hours of flight time. Comfy. Sadly, the Ottawa-Maseru direct flight was full so we are going through Frankfurt and Johannesburg. Are we nervous? Definitely, but we also quite mentally prepared for much. Essentially, I've adopted the attitude of "as long as nobody gets hurt, whatever happens - delays, theft, missing baggage, etc.- is no big deal."
One last note: Scooter seems to be enjoying his new home in Sudbury. We miss him dearly, but we know we are doing the right thing for us. We'll see him soon enough as well as all of you.
