Our Fantabulous Trip Around the Globe
We're starting to get a few more details about our living arrangements in Lesotho. We'll be renting a mud hut (the traditional houses of the Basotho people) in Mahlekefane for a whopping $25 a month. We may have to share it with another volunteer, Shauna, for a few weeks as our time in Mahlekefane begins as hers will be ending. Luckily, she seems to be a lot of fun and it'll be great to only have to pay 2/3 of that crazy rent bill :)
Apparently the hut is quite big and has a lot of furniture, so we'll be set. Katey wants to see photos of the lazy boy and the big-screen TV (haha). We'll post those from our (non-existent) laptop as we sip daquiris made in our blender!
Actually, we won't have electricity or running water, so we'll have to hire some local children to fetch water for us every day.
Caroline (a Help Lesotho worker who is full-time on the ground there) is working on the details for accommodation in the village of Paray for the second half of our time in Lesotho. The rent will most likely skyrocket to between $25 and $50 a month.
We'll be in each of these communities for 2 months, give or take a week. I'm starting to get more excited for the volunteer work-I've put up posters around work so that people can get some ideas of what to donate. I had lots of people ask me about donating to the cause, so hopefully they'll get on board. We shall see.
