Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) well seen as a struggled crossing roads in Bangkok I was right out of luck here!! Absolute madness I have never seen so many mopeds, bikes whizzing around with once again minimal road rules. How to cross a road in vietnam, look for a small gap and walk with conviction keep looking forward and do not stop. It is super scary but is the only way to get around especially as we only had one day in this big city. Today we covered the city on foot taking in the french influence architecture such as Notre Dame catherdral and the old post office. We visited the war remnants museum which portrays a rather graphic pictorial history of the American War, although reminders of the war are not only found in the museum but also round the city with beggars missing limbs and showing signs of the affect of agent orange. As well as dewelling on the countries past we also enjoyed it's food today having the best pho (vietnamese noodle soup). Ho Chi Minh has a very continental feel, with lots of western brands advertised and the locals enjoying sitting outside drinking coffee at times you feel like you are in a european city. We finished the long day with drinks on the roof of the Rex hotel (probably the most expensive beer I've had since being in Asia but the view made it worth it. Tonight first night train from Ho Chi Minh City to Nha Trong. Fingers crossed I sleep.
