So we got up quite early to leave for Dunedin... Another 3 hr drive in the pouring rain..we finally found the motoway and it was so windy we had to take it quite slow!
So Dunedin is the biggest city we had been to so far.. or atleast it looked bigger due to the heavy traffic and people everywhere..
so being very unorganised we hadnt yet booked a hsotel..we tried driving around the centre looking for somewhere to rest our heads..So this is where the trouble began!
We were trying to navigate our way around the one way system, in the rain, with nowhere to stay..Lisa had been sriving the whole way and was beginning to lose her temper! Her knuckles began turning white as she gripped the steering wheel even harder..
We tried 3 hostels before she really lost it and shouted that Jayne and Gemma werent helping! teehee...Apparently Dunedin is very busy on a saturday night and we had chosen to go on a day when there was a huge rugby game on..nice one girls!
Eventually we managed to park in a 10 minute bay outside the information centre...so with Lisa in a strop, Jayne desperate for a wee and poor Gemma not knowing what to do or say we asked for help!
Lisa had to return to the car incase we got a ticket- that would have just been the icing on the cake! haha
Gemma and Jayne had to talk to the woman in the info centre and find somewhere to stay..after a while they managed to find the cheapest option to stay on a farm! Only problem was the woman said 2 of us had to share a single bed!
It was Jayne job to break the news to Lisa..Her response was "so let me get this right, (deep breath)..we are paying $115 between us for me and you to share a single bed..you have to be kidding (or words to that effect!)"
Jayne was just excited to be on a farm! After some better map reading from Gemma we arrived at the farm which had miniture ponies..awww...jayne loved it!
The lady came out to meet us on the driv and she showed us to our brand spanking new appartment! There was a double bed and a double sofa bed too.. obviously the woman in the info centre got confused but Lisa managed to relax now!
Time for tea and noodles before we got ready to experience Dunedin night life..All ready we had a few beers and some rum and coke..then called a cab!
ENTER CHASE: 9.30PM saturday night the heavans had opened ad wasnt giving in for anyone! chase and his cab got us into town in 5 mins flat.. it wasnt a one-way relationship we kept him entertained telling him about our journey to Dunedin..haha..we took his number as we wanted him to pick us up later..
Got dropped off at the octagon and asked a few people where the good bars were..decided to head for the cheap student bar 'monkey bar' but got distracted by a huge 'fever' sign ! We went into Fever..oh my life it was the strangest club/bar EVER..with the random 60's style decor and a very shall we say 'WIDE' range of people..
got our stamp so we could get in free later and off we went to monkey bar! they had fab cocktails for $5 what a bargain...monkey bar is set inside an old church and full of student..we had lots of fun but everyone became slightly annoying as the drink was flowing..time for a new bar!
Onto Captain Cook bar! very small but great music...only downer was that it was a bit of a trek in the rain! oh well..back to Fever it was!
We ended the night there with a good old dance to some very cheesy tunes! and cheap beer..off to fill our hungry tummys with mcdonalds..very cheeky!
called chase and he picked us up from outside! what a legend! Back to our lovely farm appartment..good nights sleep was had!
