We are in Bergen tonight and took a before dinner walk where I met my new friend (see photo). Today was a long day in the bus with breaks due to two ferry rides, but or so worth the trip as we saw more spectacular scenery. We started out at 8am with an hour long ferry ride past the awesome Seven Sisters waterfall and gazing across the fjord was another fantastic waterfall called the suitor. We also sailed by three historic but alas abandoned mountain side farms. So treacherous were these locations that children were tethered to keep them from falling over the cliff. At one point or another you had to climb a rope ladder to reach these farms. One had over 200!fruit trees and all had goats.
As we journeyed 200+km today we passed by Hornindahl lake (the deepest in Norway), Invegsfjord,
Jostedalsbreen (at 487 sq km it is the largest glacier in Norway), Sognefjord ( the deepest and longest fjord in Norway), and Nordfjord. The waterfalls cascaded down the mountains in their full glory , wild flowers blanketed the hillsides with yellow, white, and purple, sheep and lambs roamed the hillsides, goats navigated rocky ledges , and the crystal clear water mirrored back this brilliant landscape. Wonderful hardly can describe today.
