The town of Lake Tekapo is at the southern end of Lake Tekapo. Our campground was located at a beautiful setting on the lake.
After a walk around the small town, we went to the lakeside to take some photos of beautiful Lake Tekapo. There are wonderful views of the lake with mountains in the background. The turquoise color is created by rock flour, finely ground particles of rock held in suspension in the glacial water.
At the lakeside, we discovered a flying fox. We saw one in use by kids at the campground at Okains Bay at the beginning of our trip. Bob decided to have a try at it this time, and luckily there were no injuries.
The Church of the Good Shepherd is very picturesque. It is built of stone and oak, and it is located on a small hill overlooking Lake Tekapo. It is the most photographed church on the South Island.
Just beyond the church is a tribute to the sheep dogs which helped develop the Mackenzie country.
We drove southeast to the coast to the city of Timaru. There is a good beach here on Caroline Bay. We walked on the beach, but it was cold and windy, so we didn't stay long. Rain is in the forecast, but there are a couple of good museums here, so we will be busy tomorrow regardless of the weather.

Connie Watch what you wish for!
Connie It would be hard to concentrate on the sermon with that view. Or, it might just re-confirm your belief.
