With our reef trip booked for tomorrow we decided to check out a couple of local bays with our spare day. Conway and Wilson called to us.
We spent the morning in Frank on the more remote areas of the state. At Conway we stumbled across a pretty much untouched kilometre or so of perfect beach. Deciding we needed to earn our lunch we started walking. The untouched sand gave us a perfect canvas for a couple of messages in the sand, with a very large stick! As we made our way back to Frank we discussed the chances of coming across an empty beach in the UK.
Leaving Conway and Wilson beaches behind us we heard a noise. Being conscientious we pulled over at the next bus stop only to find one of the windows had 'blown' into a million little pieces. Clarkey's language was appalling......using every phone number we could possibly find we managed to get our camp site to call Britz and got them to call us back with advice. On their advice we crept back to Airlie at 40kph, avoiding every pot hole and bump!
Back at Airlie we caught the bus into town for our dinner at Sorrentos and it was good. Simple Italian food, bottle of fizz, over looking the harbour and a view of the sunset. What better way to de-stress after a stressful day. 3 hrs later we caught the bus back from the main strip, surrounded by oldies making their way back too and drunken youths just stepping out for the night......we feel old but too tired to care!
