Rotarua was really cool, i have lots to say about here because there where lots of fairly cheap things to do! The day we arrived we checked into our hostel and then had a wander around the town, then that night we went to a Moari culture night at Tamaki Maori village, it was boss!
When we arrived we were given a pep talk about how the Moari people may reject us from their village if they feel threatened or dislike us, it was all an act like but good fun. The Moari people came running out with their weapons and tatooed faces making mad noises and doing a Haka, when they had accepted us we went into the village and had a look round, they peformed a concert for us which was really good. We ate a meal cooked in a Hungi beneath the ground and had a look round the souvenir shops, it was a really good night!
The following day we went to the geothermal village and saw Kiwi birds, bubbling mud, exploding Geysers and had a guided tour finding out loads of information about the landscape, its history and the history of the Moari people. Its been a very educational and cultural few days. Very good though!
We arrived in Auckland today, it seems a nice city, we are leaving in the morning though to go to the bay of islands for 4 days, then we come back to Auckland again for another 2 days before we fly to Fiji.
Its all going so fast, only 9 weeks till i see Mum and Dad in Pheonix. Only 5 weeks till i arrive in Pheonix. Only 3 weeks till Gemma goes and i go to Mexico and only 1 week till Fiji! Speak soon! xxxx
