Today has been a crazy day with a roller coaster of emotions! I was collected by the Mum and Daughter I would be living with for the next 2 months. Right away I was surprised at the level of English she could speak, we drove to an outdoor where we ate tacos and spoke about life with the odd google translate saving my embarrassment of speaking Spanish. We then drove to meet the son and dad at Algeciras football stadium where the boy was receiving a medal for basketball. I was shortly introduced to the friends of the family who in true Spanish style say welcome by kissing two cheeks, unexpectedly a few awkward head nudges from me I got the hang of it whilst throwing in a few 'como estas' just to show off. As we arrived home I started to feel slightly homesick, I had just unpacked and did not know what to do with myself as I was aware the dinner was being made. I had a major teary eyed moment but I know it is normal to be this way as it is for them. I was excited to try new food and as soon as I knew it I was eating georgette soup with goats cheese as a starter and a small bit of fish with lots of bread and olive oil for main at 10 at night and strangely enough it filled me right up! I look forward to a good night sleep and to see what tomorrow brings.
