Woohoo!!! - we've passed and are now qualified PADI Open Water Scuba divers!!!
First thing this morning again we we were taken directly ro the boat for our 18 metre dive! It went really well and didn't take u too long to get to the sea bed. Our instructor then made us do more skills which involved hovering, that we had to do in turns for 30 seconds each. Dave went first whilst Claire was left to play with a group of 4 fish that were very curious about her. We soon realised why we had to do it turns as before long, Dave had completeley drifted off, once again bobbing like a yo yo - that seems to be his style. Claire was next and again demonstrated the floaty ankle syndrome, this is her style, by going flat on her back but did float perfectly, which was all that mattered.
We were then taken for a tour round the reef before heading back to the boat to move on for our second dive. This dive was only a short one where we had to use a compass and simply go west for 20 fin strokes and then back east to the starting point. That may sound simple enough...not for us! Dave had to lead us out but it's doubtful we even headed anywhere near west and when Claire leaded us back East, between us we got ourselves absolutley nowhere near the starting point! Oh well, that skill must come with practice! Once back at the surface we again used the compasses to get back to the boat, this was again simple enough and we were doing fine, but Claire did struggle a little bit after she dropped her compass and it went sinking all the way to the bottom! Oops!
Back at the dive centre we were given our certificates and membership numbers and celebrated with a drink with our instructor. Had another quiet night as after 4 days of exercise we can no longer move! We've got a bus ticket to Mui Ne for tomorrow morning, so loking forward to sun bathing and chilling out. We hope to do some more diving soon though, it seems like this could turn into quite an expensive hobby for us!
