We were woken up at 2am to a woman screaming at us. The bus had stopped, and a woman with a megaphone was 'kindly' telling everyone that the bus had stopped for a 'very long time' and we should purchase some food from her all night cafe. She 'very nicely' repeated this over and over again until everyone was off the bus and ensuring that noone was able to sleep through it.
After an hour we set off, and then after another hour the bus stopped again, with all the lights being switched on the driver went to get some more food! We were eventually dropped off at 5am at Chumpon Harbour for our boat over to Koh Tao, this was conveniently due to set off at 7am. So we had 2 hours doing nothing sitting on a concrete bench, it was at this point that for about 10 minutes Claire actually said she wanted to go home.
The boat ride was 1hr 1/2 hour long to the island where we were bombarded with hotel touts, and we found ourselves in a posh resort for only 400 baht per night as we had booked a scuba diving trip for the next day.
We spent the day sun bathing on the white sands and snorkelling in the clear water amongst shallow coral until we finally crashed out late afternoon.
In the evening we went to the town which is full of really nice bars, restaurants and dive shops where we met back up with Briege and Layne and had a catch up with a beer.
