What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. Except memories shouldn’t. It was an awesome day in Vegas, starting with Katie and I going for a walk while Sue was getting out of bed and Matt was still sleeping. Well, to be fair, Matt has said to me that before I woke him I should have a coffee and calm down. So we did. The human detritus that forms in Vegas alleys was there, as early as 8am and there were those passed out from the casinos or whatever activity they had been up to the night before. The coffee was again expensive; $6US for what would be a large back in Oz. However, when we caught up with Elselynn later she did inform us that she did think that Vegas seemed to be the most expensive she had come across in the US.
We joined the line and purchased tickets to go to the top of the Eiffel Tower and The High Roller; a Ferris wheel bigger than the London Eye. We did get some awesome views from the top of both, and the weather wasn’t too cold. At least, it wasn’t for me.
We grabbed a bite to eat (or drink) at a Sam Francisco based chocolatier and they certainly made a very good chocolate malt thick shake; the only problem being that I ordered vanilla. The twins shared a sushi roll wrapped in a burrito. Yes, you read that right. According to them it was quite nice. We walked from here to The Venetian Casino and got a disable friendly taxi to drive us to Fremont Street. Sue got secured in the boot and for the rest of the day was known as ‘luggage’. When I informed him that she was made from sapient pear wood he had no idea. I think we missed with his classical education.
The main reason that we were going here was for Slotzilla; a zip-line which starts at about 118’ and runs down the length of the Fremont Street Mall; a distance of about 3 blocks. It was a long wait; a very long wait but we finally managed to get through the line, strapped up fully and lining on our stomachs as the supervisor checked all of the gear. With that the gates opened and we went soaring through the air, superhero style. It was an amazing 90 second flight. Unfortunately, the same supervisor banned Sue from going as some piece of equipment had broken down and prevented her from getting to the start. We grabbed a quick bite to eat, listening to some quite good live music and then got the same taxi driver to drop us off at the Rio Casino as we were seeing Penn & Teller.
They were amazing! Katie got selected to go on stage and help with one of the acts. She was speechless. She was thrilled. Both Penn & Teller stayed around after the show and were signing everything and having photos with everyone who wanted. If you get to Vegas, SEE THEM!
