Cindy Aserkoff's Travels
Today was a very short beginning ride to the place where a canal was dug but not finished to prevent the Germans from entering the Netherlands. Then on to a castle with many different gardens. After lunch we went to area where roses are cultivated. There were fields and fields of different color roses. We rode through small towns with amazing manicured lawns. Apparentally the Dutch stay home on weekends and tend to their lawns. After dinner we took short bike ride to a 'white city' where rich people lived until Napoleon. Once Napoleon was in power the taxes were so high they residents could not pay the taxes. They boarded up the windows and painted the town white for shame of poverty.
