Cindy Aserkoff's Travels
Today we started by going to another temple. This temple is where the emerald Buddha was housed before being moved to bangkok. From there we went to the victory gate, the Laotian arc de triumphe. Walking up, you get a panoramic view of the city. Back on the bus to yet another temple. That temple had 10000 Buddhas. There are a lot of Buddhas here, to say the least. Lunch was at a local restaurant where my favorite dish was marigolds. After lunch we were taken to cooperative project that is helping the victims of land mine providing artificial limbs, etc. we watched a video about the bomb recovery effort. Not exactly uplifting. I think we are venturing into the more sobering, somber part of our trip. After dinner at restaurant recommended by a Thai restaurant in San Diego, (one of our fellow travelers know the owner of USA restaurant), we will pack up for our trip to Vietnam tomorrow. So just as a note, it is extremely hot here. The afternoons are really too hot to walk around. The nights cool off a bit but not much. Health wise Robert is fine. I have had some mild but annoying intestinal issues. For me it could be the amount of fruit and vegetables I am eating. My body cannot take all this healthy food! I would love an oatmeal cookie!
