Cindy Aserkoff's Travels
The morning started with a visit to Angkor wat, meaning temple. It was amazing to see stone carvings and the building remains from the 11th century. Many stories of battles and everyday life are carved on the stone walls. There are 3 levels with the top level providing panaramic views of the temple. It is very large. The morning was extremely hot and draining after climbing many steps. After a respite at the hotel after lunch, we went to Angkor Tom which is actually the city. I liked the city better than the temple, many doorways, columns with the four heads, Vishnu, Rama, shiva and I can't remember. From there we went to the jungle temple which was discovered in the jungle with tree roots coming out of the walls. This temple is where Lara kroft, tomb raider was filmed. Although the afternoon was incredibly muggy, we returned to Angkor wat to watch the sunset. Our guides provided us with wrestler wine, frog legs, snake, and dried beef. All in all an interesting day but I think the hottest. One more day till we return to Bangkok.
