Auckland
Okay sorry for the long delay! It's been coming but here it is!! So New Zealand.... I arrived in Auckland on Monday close to midnight and cousin Louise picked me up and took me back to hers where I'd spend the next 4 nights! The following day her husband graham took me to one tree hill which although the weather wasn't too great the views were still fantastic! We also went to the waterfront and saw a tree that had been hit by lightening from the previous night! The tree had pretty much shattered across the road!! In the afternoon I went and had a look around Newmarket shops then went back and chilled in the evening and met there son Ben! Wednesday has to of been one of the highest mileage of walking I think I've ever done!! I got up early and was dropped to downtown Auckland and had a look around the harbour and a few markets before getting on a ferry to Waiheke island! I decided to walk around the island instead of busing round like a normal person would! But safe to say I definitely appreciated the island a lot better and some stunning views from cliff tops and lovely beaches! After 3 hours of walking round the island I got the ferry back to downtown where I had a look around the shopping centre then walked back to Louise's! In the evening I went to a bar in Newmarket with Ben, a really nice bar in front of a fire! We had a great chat and made each other envious of each others travels coming up (he has a tour of Europe coming up). The following day Graham and Louise took me out for the day, we went to Piha, a black sanded beach with great surf and again some great views! We stopped in river head and had a very tasty lunch!!! From there went went to north head and had a great view of Auckland from the top! We beat the rain and got back and had dinner and skyped the family and packed up to leave! Ben and Matt both came over in the evening, both really nice guys and had plenty of advise for New Zealand! Friday feeling slightly ill I got on my hour flight down to Christchurch said goodbye for now to Auckland, Louise and her wonderful family and home!
