I thought I had better write a blog about Singapore and the first day in Vietnam. Singapore is hot, sweaty and very smelly. After a mammoth 12 hour drive up the Pacific Highway in the van, we finally arrived in Byron Bay last night and crashed in a camper-van site. Byron is surfer's paradise - sun, sea, mile long beaches and enough bleach to whiten England. Keren got her tongue pierced and is now on a diet of soup and mashed potatoes + gravy. We've got our camper van sorted for Tuesday, so we're flying up to Sydney tomorrow. We're travelling up to Cairns by the 17th, so a lot of driving, but I'm looking forward to seeing the scenery and meeting some people along the way. We've got our camping sorted! We fly up to Sydney on Monday, stay in a hostel that night and pick up the van on Tuesday morning. Then we are driving to Byron Bay where we pick up Angela (the Canadian who we met in Sydney last time) and drive up the coast. We flew to Melbourne from Sydney on Tuesday for all of about 22 pounds! We're staying in a place called Melbourne International with Tom Wilson who leaves on Tuesday. We're having a good time so far - the Melbourne comedy festival is on at the moment, so we're taking the opportunity to see some good comedy and have a couple of shows booked.
